Cafe #1, located in the main stretch of Lenina street, is one very nice and out of place restaurant in this part of Russian town that looks like it is still in 1980s.
I might have posted some pictures of the outside view of Cafe No.1, so here's the bar view of it.
Ordered this special salad that is supposed to have some scallop in it.
Lamp chop, the first of many to come for 2008.
This is another special dish we had in the 'Black Cat' restaurant, where we seldom visit because it does not yet accept credit card till today. Besides the name, it has plenty of black cat figures all over the restaurant, from the entrance to each single table and from the backdrop of the bar to the toilet seat.
This looks like a Korean dish, with egg plant, nuts, banana, cheese, etc. Some of these tastes nice but the others are just good to avoid.
Grilled tiger prawns, that I have expected a little more. Should have stick with 'Dream of Saint Petersburg' dish instead. Have recommended it to a colleague, so I can see he was enjoying it.
Ended by Black Cat experience with a Mocha.
This is the, 'Nasi Goreng' from Hotel Pacific Plaza. Tastes like Nasi Goreng, but surely not like the ones from Malaysia or Indonesia.

Some pictures from other Japanese restaurant around Yuzhno.
Assorted Sushi, but octopus is still my favourite among all.
This is my all time favourite, shrimp tempura.
Fish slices with, some kind of sauce.

Yuzhno - May 2008 - Spring
Spring season starts around early May in Yuzhno, a little late compares to the other parts of Russia.
This is some wild flower plant, can see they are one of the first to start growing, the same time the last snow is melting.
A week later, you can find green grass on the fields. This is a small memorial park just outside the hotel I was staying.
A trip to Bamboo, Mega Palace for dinner lets me thru to its outdoor rooftop, so snap a pic of this lake during Spring.
Just within the start of spring, sometime in April-May, you'll find a day where worms come out and perform mass suicide. Yes, you can find at least 1 worm in every 5-7 foot steps, so will need to try abit hard to avoid stepping on them. I was surprise when I observed this special day in 2007, and found the same thing in 2008.
Another one.

Yuzhno - April 2008 - Easter outing - Part 2
More pictures of the easter outing trip...
Will these become flowers? I'm not sure as we didn't waited that long there.
Easter egg
Unique Russian food, this is called Pashka, made of cheese, sugar, butter, cream, almond and vanilla. Doesn't look as nice as it tastes. A special pudding for Russian Easter.
Some dog.
Chicken wings and drumstick.

Yuzhno - April 2008 - Easter outing - Part 1
April 27, Easter sunday, invited by my colleague to join his local friends on a picnic outing about 30 minutes from Yuzhno city center. The weather looks good for spring has just started and snow melted. The name of this river is Khomutovka.
The view, for a change from snow and ice, looks pretty interesting. With rivers flowing and wild flowers starting to bloom, everything looks about perfect to me. It would be nice to have outings like this back home, with weather slightly higher than this, but below 20C. I'll surely get myself a 4x4 and some camping gears.
The pictures below are all self-explanatory, haha.
